The development of a serial number list has been very difficult because of the lack of official records. Mr. H. N. White kept very detailed records but when the company was sold to the Seeburg Corporation all official records were destroyed. When looking up the age of your instrument, complete the following steps: (1.) Find your instruments catalog page and year that the catalog was made. Pay special attention to the small details on your instrument because most artists drawings account for unique changes and features. (2.) Compare your findings to the serial number list. Please keep in mind that most catalogs were dated on the back and should be trusted more than the serial number list.

- Production of Jupiter instruments began in 1986. How to Find Serial Numbers on Brass and Woodwind Instruments. On a trumpet, look on either side of the center valve for the serial number.
The record is much less complete after 1936. Instruments manufactured after 1936 range in serial number from 1350-3600. The log book shows the serial numbers jumping around quite a bit for the Selmer/Adolphe Sax saxophones. Even so, its possible from this record to assemble a basic serial number chart for these instruments. The newer Jupiter saxophones just have a Jupiter logo on the bell and have Taiwan near the model and serial numbers under the thumbrest. Earlier Jupiter instrument cases have a 'Jupiter Wind Instruments' logo and newer Jupiter instrument cases just have a Jupiter logo. Unfortunately the serial numbering system that was used had no decade. Music Instruments Taiwan' There does not seem to be a serial number of any kind. The only numbering on the instrument I could find was underneath each valve cap is, 951' Instrument has clearly been played often. Lacquer coming off in the usual areas from use.
